*** A ‘perfect testing ground’ for shothole borer. Western FarmPress article published June 15 discusses how UC Irvine campus infestation during the early years of first detection and outbreak of ISHB provided an excellent opportunity for studying invasive shot hole borers.
*** Scent Dogs. This is a short piece about a local So Cal trainer that works scent dogs to target invasive or protected species, depending on the project requirement. Here they are working together to sniff out the pathogen associated with sudden oak death in nurseries. This could dramatically reduce the spread out to parks, etc.

*** Asian longhorn beetle. USDA-Plant Protection & Quarantine Division reporting that the Asian longhorn beetle eradication program in Ohio recently realized success. A quarantine area established in 2019 was minimized by 7.5 square miles last month due to strategies employed in the infested area.
