Going Camping / Love BBQ's? Don't Move Firewood!

Love Camping / BBQ's? Love Trees?

The most important thing to remember is - DON'T MOVE FIREWOOD!
Moving firewood either to a new area or taking leftovers home or to a new site is the main way that tree pests spread. These tree pests have the potential to kill a tree. They also have the potential to kill a whole forest. DON'T MOVE FIREWOOD!

Simple rules:

* Don't pick up 'free' wood - The cost of that wood may be lethal to trees. You might often see 'free wood' signs on the street or posted to local groups. That tree may have died because of a pest and if you take it to a new area, you may start an invasion there. Tree pests can be very small - so just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it's not there.

* Buy where you burn! There will always be firewood available local to your camp. Check before you go! Check for fire restrictions in the area. Don't be tempted to bring back firewood you buy if campfires are restricted during the time of your visit.
